The operating context
Across the extraction and recycled-aggregate value chain, documents, operating data, logistics and compliance obligations intersect every day. Information moves across business functions and external stakeholders, while traceability and sustainability require an increasingly structured view. In this setting, adding software without reconsidering flows and ownership can simply move fragmentation elsewhere.
The challenge: creating a shared direction
The advisory work addressed a diverse portfolio of opportunities. Document automation, digital platforms, green procurement, data analysis, traceability and advanced manufacturing have different maturity levels, dependencies and timelines. The challenge was to connect them to recognisable operating problems and determine which initiatives could be assessed immediately and which required further validation.
The roadmap axes
The path considered five areas: repetitive document flows and I-RPA; a platform model for demand, supply and sustainable procurement; AI and predictive-analysis use cases; digitalisation of extraction and recycling processes; and additive manufacturing for construction. Requirements, technology alternatives and relationships with existing processes were examined for each area.
The assessment method
The roadmap starts from the process, makes the need explicit and identifies data, ownership and validation criteria. Scouting was not treated as a product list: candidate platforms, tools and architectures were compared against the operating context. This separates assessment, experimentation and possible implementation while keeping unresolved decisions visible.
Project360 contribution and the programme
Within the 2024 Innovation Manager Voucher, Project360 supported management through requirements analysis, scouting, technical-economic assessments and roadmap development. The advisory contribution translates innovation goals and organisational constraints into priorities and decision points, preparing the ground for later experimentation and development.
Transferable value
The project shows that AI, automation and platforms become concrete when they address a defined problem, have an owner and include a success criterion. A shared roadmap supports phased investment, avoids isolated initiatives and maintains alignment across technology, people, sustainability and operating capacity.
